GALWAY MOVIE KEY TO REVOLUTIONISE MOVIE RENTAL INDUSTRY
August 30, 2007 - 9:08amA Galway digital media company could be on the verge of revolutionising the movie rental industry.
Portomedia, based in Mervue business park, is offering people the chance to download movies to a flash memory card in just 15 seconds, making a trip to a movie rental shop a thing of the past.
The so-called 'movie-key' can then be plugged into the USB port of a computer, TV monitor or mobile screen for viewing at home or on the go.
There's no need to even return the film because it will expire after a predetermined length of time.
People in Galway will be the first in the world to try out the cutting-edge technology when PortoMedia kiosks are installed in shops all over Galway early October.
