FEARS CONVERGED HOSPITAL ROLE WILL LEAD TO JOB LOSSES IN BALLINASLOE

February 18, 2010 - 10:28am

A decision to expand the role of the Galway general manager to incorporate two more hospitals will be strongly resisted.

IMPACT trade union says the move to expand the role by incorporating Portiuncula and Roscommon hospitals will lead to a downgrading in services.

The change would mean that both hospitals would have to report directly to the general manager of UHG, rather than their own hospitals.

The union is calling on all of its members not to co-operate with the move.
