RENEWED CALL FOR SINGLE AUTHORITY TO PREVENT FUTURE FLOODING IN GALWAY

March 11, 2010 - 12:25pm

There's a renewed call for one authority to take a lead role in the regulation of the Shannon catchment area.

An Environmental Oireachtas Meeting has heard that this is the only way to avoid a future flooding disaster in East Galway.

At present there are a number of stakeholders in the river - including the IFA, Waterways Ireland, the ESB, the Irish Fisheries Board and the OPW.
