GALWAY HOMEOWNERS MAY NOT GET HOUSING ADAPTATION GRANTS
March 12, 2010 - 12:11pmHundreds of Galway homeowners who applied for housing adaptation grants will not be getting any funding this year.
Despite a funding allocation of around 3 point 7 million euro in grants last week, both Galway city and county councils are already dealing with applications totalling in excess of four million euro.
Galway county council has to work within the confines of 2 point 5 million euro even though they already have 800 applications totalling in excess of 3 point 2 million euro.
Galway City Council was granted 1 point 2 million euro, however they have 54 outstanding applications amounting to 600 thousand euro and 300 thousand euro still outstanding from last year.
