DUBLIN MEN SENTENCED TO 26 YEARS IN TOTAL FOR LACKAGH RAID

Three Dublin men have been sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison for an armed raid and hostage situation at the home of Julian Flynn in Lackagh in February 2009.

54 year old Thomas Freeman of 29 Deansrath Grove, Clondalkin, 22 year old Greg Kelly of 63 Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun and 32 year old Michael McCormack of 2 Balbrook Close, Tallaght were handed down the sentences at Galway Circuit Criminal court this afternoon.

Inspector Gerry Roche told the court that on the evening of the 15th of February 2009 Julian Flynn was at home with his wife, Emma and their four young children when five masked men armed with a hatchet and sawn off gun entered their home.

They used cable ties to tie up the parents and three of the young children sparing just their six month old baby Ruben.

Judge Raymond Groarke sentenced Freeman to a total of 12 years in prison backdated to February 15th 2009, when he was taken into custody.

Michael McCormack was given an eight year prison sentence while Greg Kelly was sentenced to six years in prison with the final year suspended.
