HSE WEST PAID 90 THOUSAND EURO TO CONSULTANCY FIRM

August 11, 2010 - 8:08am

A consultancy firm which carried out a report on possible cost-containment measures for the HSE West was paid €90,000.

According to today's Irish Times the contract was awarded to UK consultants Mott MacDonald after a public tender process in April.

The HSE West says the Mott MacDonald team was made up of medical, nursing and accountancy professionals.

The Health Authority says the study included on-site visits to hospitals and community services across the West.

Janet Hughes, assistant general secretary of Impact’s western division, says 12 nurses or clerical officers could be retained in their jobs from now until the end of the year for the money paid for the report.
