Cliona dances her way to success
August 12, 2010 - 11:04amA NORTH Connemara teenager is the envy of her schoolmates as she has received a three-month dancing scholarship to Los Angeles.
And a career in dancing or modelling could be on the cards for 16 years old Cliona Kerrigan from Clonbur who won several medals at the World Championship of Performing Arts in California.
She described it as a dream come true as she scooped haul of six medals in a variety of disciplines at the event, which saw representatives from over 50 countries competing for glory. She also won a plaque as champion of the world for ethnic dancing.
Cliona has now captured the attention of some of the top dancing agencies following her impressive performances which included hip hop and Irish traditional while she also achieved recognition for her modelling talents.
Cliona was part of the Irish team performing in the event and she was eagerly looking forward to performing in front of huge crowds – it was like the global equivalent of Fame.
The event had performers from all over the globe as well as being attended by talent scouts, casting directors, recording company executives as well as a whole host of agencies.
