Taoiseach Brian Cowen says he will consider changes to the planning system that could differentiate between local objections, and objections from other parties.

Speaking in Ballyconneely last evening, the Taoiseach said he understood the pressures on people when they sought planning permission in areas like Connemara.

However he also said that the natural beauty and environment of areas such as Connemara had to be protected.
