ENFORCEMENT ACTION TAKEN AGAINST GALWAY TRADERS BY CONSUMER AGENCY

Enforcement action was taken against 5 businesses in Galway by the National Consumer Agency.

A compliance order was issued to Joyce's Supermarket Athenry Ltd, Laiter Ltd - trading as Costcutter, St. Michael's Square Ballinasloe and Triangle Store Ltd - trading as Murphy's Centra, Bothar An Chóiste, Castlegar.

The compliance order was issued to the traders for charging more for consumer goods that the price displayed in contravention of the Consumer Protection Act 2007.

Fixed Payment Notices were issued to Laiter Ltd - trading as Costcutter, St. Michael's Square, Ballinasloe and Joyce's Supermarket, Knocknacarra Ltd - which received 3 notices- in respect of breaches of pricing legislation.

P.J. Flaherty and Co. Ltd - trading as P.J. Flaherty's Bar, Lower Salthill also paid a fixed payment notice to the National Consumer Agency.
