A boil water notice has been issued for the Kilkerrin - Moylough public water supply.

Galway County Council has been advised to issue the boil warning on the advice of the HSE.

The water supply could be at risk of contamination due to extremely low water levels in the spring, which serves the supply.

The boil notice is a precautionary measure while further investigations are carried out.

Water users on the Kilkerrin Moylough Scheme are advised to boil water for drinking, preparation of salads, brushing teeth and making ice.
