A strong performance earned Gaeltacht side Michael Breathnach's a place in the Leinster Junior B hurling final with a 14-point win over Camross at Heywood, Laois on Saturday afternoon.
In cold conditions a large contingent of supporters travelled from the West and they weren't to be disappointed, with Ruaidhri Ó Bearra's charges giving a solid display throughout.
Despite the teams being tied at 0-2 apiece after 10 minutes, once the impressive Oisin O Ceallaigh fired home a 12th minute goal there was no looking back as his side held command on the scoreboard until the end.
The Laois champions simply had no answer with Micheal Breathnach's adding four unanswered points between the 14th and 21st minutes to take a 1-6 to 0-2 advantage.
Indeed, it was the Sean Denvir show during this spell with the NUI Maynooth student firing three excellent scores from distance, and was unlucky also not to breach the Camross goalmouth midway through the half.
Denvir bore down on goal, but his shot was well blocked by Camross defender Brendan Lowry. Micheal Breathnach's maintained the pace, with Adrian Ó Tuathail on target to round off a good spell for his side and ensure that seven-point advantage.
Camross claimed their first point in almost 17 minutes after Seamus Kennedy was on target, but his effort was cancelled out by Sean O Finneadha before the break as Micheal Breathnach's held a 1-7 to 0-3 interval lead.
