Renmore gymnasts claim impressive haul of 14 medals at Level 1 All-Ireland finals
February 7, 2012 - 8:00amYoung gymnasts from the Renmore Gymnastics Club enjoyed a hugely successful trip to the Level 1 All-Ireland finals in Monaghan at the weekend, with each of the 14 young athletes who travelled to the event claiming a medal in what was a very impressive outing.
The youngsters, who competed in a total of seven categories, took home a haul of five gold, five silver and four bronze from the tournament.
There were gold medals for Anna Kidd and Teagan Stanley in the Level 1A Under 11 section; for Donna Cunningham and Orla Kistmacher in the Level 1A Over 11 section; and for Hannah-Kate Silkes in the Level 1C Over 11 section.
Silver medals were won by Lilly Forrest, Eabha Carew and Angelika Koloziej in the Level 1B Under 11 section, and by Ciara Mulgannon and Rachel Cowan in the Level 1C Under 11 section.
The medal haul was completed by Hazel Kirby, who took bronze in the Level 1B Over 11 section; and by Isobel Haugh, Miriam Fuller and Siofra Davis, who took bronze in the Level 1C Under 9 section.
Those results completed a wonderful week for the club, which had impressive results from its Level 2 to Level 6 gymnasts at a regional competition in Mayo the previous weekend.
That tournament saw 15 athletes from the club claim top three placings, with Rosalie Hynes claiming first in the Level 6 Over 13 section and Kate Molloy claiming top spot in the Level 4 Under 9 section.
Emma Slevin took second in the Level 2 Under 9 section, and there were also second placed finishes for Natasha Johnson (Level 2 Under 13) Nicola Lawless (Level 2 Over 13), Aoife Walsh (Level 3 Under 9), Jane Heffernan (Level 4 Under 9), and Helen McCarthy (Level 5 Under 13.
