RESIDENTS WANT PLANS FOR RAHOON SUPERMARKET WITHDRAWN

February 9, 2012 - 11:16am

Many residents living on the west side of the city want to see a business park built on a site at Rahoon road rather than a large supermarket.

Micheál Ó hUigínn has applied for planning permission to demolish an existing building at the site and build a supermarket, pharmacy and café in its place.

More than 50 objections to the plans have been lodged with Galway City Council from local residents and businesses.

They have concerns about traffic management, noise and the impact on existing local business.

They are calling on Micheál Ó hUigínn to withdraw his application and instead build a business park similar to the IDA park in Dangan.
