Unemployment figures in Galway are still climbing with almost 23 thousand people on the Live Register at the end of January.

An extra 328 people signed on in the city and county last month.

The biggest jump in unemployment figures last month was in the city where an extra 125 joined the Live Register.

There are now just over 11 thousand 700 people out of work in the city.

In the county, the biggest increase in unemployment figures in January was in Loughrea where 74 more people signed on.
