GO-AHEAD FOR CITY OIL STORAGE FACILITY
February 22, 2012 - 5:20pmGalway City Council has approved a major oil storage facility at the Docks.
Cold Chon Galway Limited has been given the go-ahead to build the tanks with six conditions attached.
The development consists of two 11-metre high bitumen storage tanks at Galway Harbour Enterprise Park.
An Taisce had wanted the plans reassessed due to the E.U Seveso directive - which aims to prevent accidents at sites which store hazardous materials.
A financial contribution of 15 thousand 500 euro must be paid to the City Council towards the cost of provision of public services.
