Talented Tom Portman for Town Hall studio stage
March 2, 2012 - 8:00amMulti-instrumentalist, performer and songwriter Tom Portman will be bringing his talents to the stage in Galway’s Town Hall Theatre studio this Saturday, March 3.
Playing acoustic, electric guitar, dobro and lap steel, mandolin and oud Tom presents a wide repertoire. His compositions draw on many global styles yet have a unique flavour.
Last year he launched his second solo album, At One with a sell-out show in the same venue. That self-produced collection features instrumental compositions, songs and arrangements of traditional Irish tunes for fingerstyle guitar and dobro.
For Saturday night’s show Tom will be playing some new compositions, music from At One as well as a touch of the Blues.
He regularly performs around Ireland, taking in everything from small venues to festivals such as the Electric Picnic and the Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures.
Internationally, Tom has toured in Poland where he played the Suwalki Blues festival. He has also played venues in the UK, North Italy and the South of France.
