WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CITY BROTHEL OPERATION
March 14, 2012 - 2:58pmA 34-year-old Romanian woman has pleaded guilty to operating a brothel in Galway city earlier this year.
Monica Ciuciu, of 33 Cois Clair, Claregalway and with a former address at Apartment 3, 15 Mary Street in the city appeared before Galway District Court.
The court heard that Ciuciu had two marriage proposals since arriving in this country last October.
Defence solicitor, Ronan Murphy told the court this week that his client secured bail in the High Court recently and he said she was pleading to the charge.
Inspector Sean Glynn said the matter was still under investigation and a short adjournment was required prior to sentence.
Judge Mary Fahy remanded Ciuciu on bail, as set by the High Court, to appear before her court again next wednesday [ March 21] for sentence.
