Amazing Apples are on Cloud 9
June 1, 2012 - 7:00amLocal band, The Amazing Apples will launch their debut EP, Head in the Clouds, this Friday, June 1 in HMV Galway at 5.30pm where they will perform a live acoustic set. Later on, at 10pm, they will play Monroe’s Live, with support from Kensey 3.
The Amazing Apples are a five-piece outfit with a very distinctive Irish/American sound. The band is made up of brothers Cian and Darragh Crehan, Eanna Fahy, Anthony Ryan and Brian Grace and they first came together in 2008.
All the members are multi-instrumentalists, with bouzouki, mandolin, keyboards, banjos being part of their live show. After doing the Irish circuit and playing cover songs for two years the band decided to take a new direction and write music.
Songs like Thinking About a Walk and Escape quickly began gaining the attention of fans around the country, while playing support for people like The Saw Doctors, Sharon Shannon and Mundy at various festivals saw the Amazing Apples achieve success on the big stage.
They recently won Townhouse Bar Battle of the Bands and will be a big part of the musical extravaganza of the Volvo Ocean Race when they play support for The Saw Doctors on July 3.
