CITY COUNCIL DEFENDS VOLVO PARK AND RIDE FEE
June 19, 2012 - 3:13pmGalway Transportation Unit has defended the pricing structure for the Volvo Ocean Race "Park and Ride" service.
Mayor of Galway City Hildegarde Naughton launched the five minute frequency bus service this morning. (19/06)
It'll be run by Bus Eireann from the racecourse at Ballybrit into the city centre from Saturday June 30th until July 8th.
There will be an all inclusive charge of five euro per adult and no charge for senior citizens or children.
This compares to a two euro fee for the Christmas city park and ride service.
Cathy Joyce of Galway Transportation Unit says the pricing is competitive and will provide a value-for-money all day service for families.
