MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE BOOST FOR ORANMORE
Oranmore is set to receive a boost of 100 thousand euro in funding to improve walking and cycling infrastructure.
Announced by the Public Transport Minister Alan Kelly, the "Active Travel Towns" initiative aims to create a cycle friendly and walk friendly environment.
Oranmore is the only Galway town selected to benefit from the 4.5 million euro project.
Plans include linking Oranmore's Gaelscoil with housing areas in the town through a new footpath and footbridge.
TD Derek Nolan says it will encourage school children and workers to take the healthier option of travelling on foot.
