PRESIDENT TO TOUR VOLVO OCEAN RACE VILLAGES
July 3, 2012 - 5:52pmPresident of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, will be accompanied by his wife Sabina on a walk around tour of the Volvo Ocean race villages tomorrow.(4/07)
The couple will join President of Let's do it global, John Killeen and CEO of the Volvo Ocean race, Knut Frostad in meeting the ocean race skippers alongside their boats at the marina. (10:15am)
Tonight, the President will host the arrivals ceremony for the Volvo Ocean race fleet.
A host of dignataries including Mayor of Galway Terry O' Flaherty, the South African Ambassador to Ireland Jeremiah Ndou, and Chinese Ambassador to Ireland Luo Linquan are also attending the ceremony.
Thousands of people are expected to turn up and welcome the race skippers, crews and families to Galway.
