THOUSANDS TRAVEL TO GALWAY FOR VOLVO OCEAN RACE EVENTS
Tens of thousands of people will throng Salthill and the Galway coastline today to watch the final in-port race of the Volvo Ocean race series.
It's the second last day of the festival, and the V70 race takes place on a course between Salthill and Mutton Island.
Afterwards, the Volvo fleet will return to Galway harbour, accompanied by a parade of sail.
At noon, Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar will greet the new Coast guard helicopter when it visits Galway for the Volvo Ocean race.
