CITY PLAYGROUNDS DESIGNATED SMOKE-FREE ZONES
Galway City playgrounds will now include signs to discourage smoking and promote a positive example for children.
Following a proposal from Councilor Billy Cameron at a meeting of Galway City Council's Recreation and Amenity Strategic Policy Committee, Director of Services Ciaran Hayes has designated city playgrounds smoke free zones.
The aim of the initiative is to create a healthy smoke free environment for children and establish adult role modeling to discourage children from becoming smokers as they grow up.
Councilor Cameron, is encouraging people to embrace the new programme to improve health of both adults and children.
