WESTSIDE SPORTS PARK PLANS TO GO ON PUBLIC DISPLAY
July 24, 2012 - 3:10pmPlans for Westside Sports Park are set to go on public display early next month [02/08].
The long awaited project will see new pitches for St. Michael's GAA club and Corrib Rangers Soccer club.
Part of the area was lost under the Seamus Quirke Road widening plan, but new facilities were promised.
City Cllr and Chairperson of the Recreation and Amenity Committee Padraig Conneely says 500 thousand euro in funding that had been earmarked for the master plan was diverted to the road project.
However he says alternative funding will now be sought to ensure the project can finally progress.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, he says following meetings with city officials, the plans will now go on display early next month for a 6 week consultation period
