OWNERS OF OWEN RIFF NURSING HOME WITHDRAW CLOSURE APPEAL

The owners of a private nursing home in the county have withdrawn their appeal to a closure order issued by the District Court earlier this month. (4 July)

The HSE must now make alternative arrangements for patients of Owen Riff nursing home in Oughterard, which is run by Riverside nursing home limited.

Fiona White, an inspector for HIQA told the court that following an inspection in March there were concerns in relation to staffing shortages, medical records, which were fragmented and sometimes outdated, as well as concerns over health care management.

Defence solicitor for Riverside Nursing home, James Charity, stated that his clients had adopted a practical approach and would go back to square one in the hope of applying for registration again.
