Gardai have launched two separate investigations into the alleged sexual assault of two teenage girls in the city this week.

The first reported incident took place at a city centre apartment on Wednesday while the second alleged assault occurred at the Ballybrit racecourse yesterday.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the first incident which involved an alleged sexual assault of a 15 year old girl in a city based apartment between 3 and 5 on Wednesday afternoon.

3 men, two aged 17 and one aged 19, were arrested and questioned following an investigation after the incident was reported to Gardai by the teenager girl.

They were later released without charge pending a file for the DPP.

A further Garda investigation was launched following an alleged sexual assault at the racecourse yesterday.

This incident also involved a 15 year old girl and was reported to have taken place between 4 and 5pm.

1 suspect has been identified and Gardai are following a definite line of inquiry.
