NO PLANS TO DOWNGRADE BALLINASLOE PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES
The HSE West says there are no plans to downgrade psychiatric services in Ballinasloe.
The HSE supports up to 65 clients with mental health and an intellectual health diagnosis living in different settings in the Ballinasloe area.
Concerns had been raised over plans to move 12 patients from a building called 'Oak Grove' at the old St. Brigids site into community settings.
However, the HSE says this building is no longer fit for purpose, and moving the patients into the community is more in line with national policy on congregated settings.
Speaking on Galway Talks, Primary continuing care manager for Galway and Roscommon hospitals Catherine Cunningham says a plan is in place for patients.
