CONCERNS OVER REMOVAL OF GARDA CAR IN HEADFORD
Concerns have been raised over future rural policing capability following the removal of a second garda car in Headford.
Local Cllr Mary Hoade says rural policing is vital for the area and community alert can only serve as a support measure.
It's understood the car is the second such vehicle in the area to be decommissioned due to health and safety reasons, after reaching its mileage limit.
Cllr Hoade says Gardai are faced with an enormous challenge if such a large geographical area is to be policed properly.
The Fianna Fail cllr's calling on the government to act quickly to resolve the issue.
