WIFE OF GALWAY MAN DIES IN FLORIDA PARASAILING ACCIDENT
August 17, 2012 - 3:25pmThe family and friends of a Galway man are attempting to come to terms with the death of his young wife who died after a fall from a parasail in Flordia.
Stephen Miskill who is originally from Barnadearg and his wife Kathleen were living in Connetticut and had been on holiday in Florida this week when tragedy struck.
Stephen and his wife Kathleen had been married for almost three years.
Local newspaper reports the couple had just bought a home in Conetticut and would have marked their third anniversary in October.
They were on holidays in Florida this week and on Wednesday decided to take a parasail ride close to Pompano beach near Fort Lauderdale.
Flying about 150 feet above the Atlantic, 28 year old Kathleen somehow managed to break free of her safety restraint and plummeted into the sea.
Two crew members aboard the tow boat reeled in Stephen and circled back to pick up Kathleen but she could not be revived.
Kathleen, a teacher's aide at East Hartforde Middle school in Conneticut, was an established Irish step dance teacher.
