DruidMurphy goes on tour of county venues

Druid Theatre returns to Galway next week following extensive critical acclaim for its extensive tour of DruidMurphy, a major production of three plays from Tuam writer, Tom Murphy.

The company is staying close to its base next week, for a week-long run that will see two of the three DruidMurphy productions travel from Clifden to Inis Mór to Inis Meáin and then on to Tuam to Tom Murphy’s native town.

The week will kick off at the 35th Clifden Arts Festival with Conversations on a Homecoming on Monday next, September 24 and A Whistle in the Dark on Tuesday, September 25.

The production of Conversations on a Homecoming will then tour to Inis Mór on Thursday, September 27 and to Inis Meáin on the 28th before it finishes the week at The Mall Theatre in Tuam on Saturday, September 29.

DruidMurphy – Plays by Tom Murphy has received five-star reviews on tour and has played to packed houses. The cast, which includes Tony award-winning Marie Mullen, has received numerous plaudits, with The New York Times saying “the acting is of a quality to leave you dumbstruck with admiration”.

Tom Murphy has been described as “the greatest dramatist writing in English” by The Financial Times.
