GALWAY CLLRS POSTPONE DISCUSSION ON FLOODING ALONGSIDE RIVER SHANNON
Galway county councillors have put on hold any decisions regarding the report from a joint Dáil and Seanad committee regarding flooding alongside the river Shannon.
Eight proposals for dealing with the problems were put forward in the report.
Councillor Michael Connolly proposed that the Minister for the Environment and the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht should be asked to come together and discuss the matter from a flooding and environment point of view.
Councillor Dermot Connolly, who sought the discussion in the first place, asked to have the matter put back on the Council agenda at a later stage and this was agreed.
