ConTempo Quartet and Galway Baroque Singers for St Nicholas's concert
October 26, 2012 - 7:00amThe ConTempo Quartet will play the final date of its fourth annual national tour in St Nicholas Collegiate Church this weekend.
The concert, which takes place on Friday, will feature the quartet – which is Galway’s Ensemble In Residence group – as well as a number of special guests, including the Galway Baroque Singers.
The tour will travel all around the country with a new friend in each destination, sharing favourite musical highlights from the decade gone by together with their audience, ending back in the city next Friday for a concert that begins at 8pm.
For the Galway concert, ConTempo will be joined The Galway Baroque Singers, under the direction of Audrey Corbett. The programme features an evening of classical and choral music including Mozart’s Te Deum KV. 141, performed together by the two ensembles.
Tickets for this concert will be available at the door and cost €10/€8 for adults, while children under the age of 16 will be admitted free of charge.
The Galway Music Residency delivers a year round performance, education and community based programme of events which includes visits by the Galway Ensemble in Residence – ConTempo Quartet to local schools and universities, mini-residencies for guest artists from Ireland, Europe and other parts of the world, as well as monthly free concerts in the Town Hall Theatre, Galway on the first Tuesday of every month.
The Galway Music Residency 10th Birthday Tour is supported by The Arts Council, National University of Ireland, Galway, Galway University Foundation, Bank of Ireland, Galway City and County Councils and Friends of The Galway Music Residency.
