RISE IN GALWAY CITY PROPERTY PRICES
April 8, 2008 - 10:21amAsking prices for homes in Galway city rose by just over one percent in the first three months of this year.
That's according to the latest research by Ireland's largest property website daft-dot-ie, which also reveals a slight drop in prices for homes in the county.
The average asking price for a 3-bedroom house in Galway city since January was 319 thousand euro, up one percent on the previous three months.
A 3-bedroom house in the County would have cost you 262 thousand euro between January and the end of March, dropping a further 1 percent.
While asking prices for homes in Galway city have stabilised after last year's drop, other parts of the country are not faring as well.
Prices in South County Dublin and Wicklow have been hardest hit with falls of 6 percent reported in some areas for the last quarter.
Chief Economist with daFt-dot-ie, Ronan Lyons, says Galway seems to buck the trend when it comes to the housing market.
