FENCING CONTRACTOR GIVES EVIDENCE IN COUNCILLOR FAHY TRIAL
December 5, 2008 - 10:10amA fencing contractor, who carried out work at Councillor Michael Fahy's land under a Community Involvement Scheme, has been giving evidence at Fahy's trial at Galway Circuit Criminal Court.
57 year old Cllr. Fahy of Caherduff Road, Ardrahan, denies seven charges of fraud and attempted theft from Galway County Council in 2002 and 2003.
A top Galway County Council official gave evidence yesterday that independent councillor, Michael Fahy, told him he submitted invoices to the Local Authority in 2001 and 2002, because he felt the Council owed him money.
Fahy told Director of Services for Road and Transportation, John Morgan, that he was owed for tons of stone removed from his farm at the time the CIS scheme was taking place.
