The Connacht & Galway City Tribunes want to help lift the gloom of winter and the economy.
We’re looking for photos that will make Galway smile.
We’re asking our readers to help. Send us your favourite recent photographs of Galway scenes and/or people – the photos that make you smile – and tell us why they make you smile.
We’ll publish the best photos in our papers between now and 7th January. The winners will announced in our papers on 7th January and displayed publicly. All entries will also be published online.
How to enter:
- Select your favourite recent photo. It must of Galway scenes and/or people.
- Your photos don’t have to be funny, just images that make you smile.
- Write a caption for the photo telling us why it makes you smile, where it is and who is in it.
- Send your digital photographs, with the captions, to us at photos@ctribune.ie
- If you have a print of the photo you can scan it and email it to us.
- The images sent should be in as a high a resolution as possible so that they reproduce well.
- You can send us copies of printed photos if you wish but we won’t be able to return them. Send these to ‘Make Galway Smile’, c/o Connacht Tribune, 15 Market Street, Galway
Rules
- Files will only be accepted in .jpg format. This is the normal type of file generated by most cameras.
- Hard copies sent to our office may not be returned. Please make sure you have a copy.
- By sending in photographs, entrants are confirming that they own the copyright to the images or have the owner's permission to enter the competition.
- No fees will be paid for images published either in our newspapers or online.
- Images which are not of a good enough quality may not be published.

Captions
- We won't publish any photograph without a caption.
- You can add the caption to your email.
- Captions can also be embedded in the image you send using applications such as Photoshop. Note that most free applications do not embed captions. However one excellent application that does is IrfanView. This can be downloaded free of charge from here www.irfanview.com. Note the plug ins must also be downloaded.

The GTI Fashion Fiesta parade of models through the city centre for the fashion show at the Hotel Meyrick.
